In 1989 Dan Mekler, Red Spot's Managing Director, started renting cars from his service station in inner Sydney. This early experience led Dan to the conclusion that there was an opportunity for a budget price yet high quality car rental company, so he set about establishing a fully Australian owned and operated one.
