Mooloolah Valley Slimmers

The Mooloolah Valley Slimmers club is a local one, focusing on weight loss, good health and wellbeing. Our members meet each Thursday morning in the Mooloolah Public Hall and after weigh-in, discuss a wide variety of topics to encourage weight loss and give support. We are an independent, non-profit group of individuals who encourage each other to reach their goal weight. We have a small weekly fee of $4 and an annual fee of $8. There is always a friendly face to greet you on your first (and subsequent) visit to help familiarize you with the club. Weigh-in is between 9 and 9.30 with the meeting beginning at 9.30, generally our meetings last about 1 hour, with light refreshments offered during the morning. We provide essential support services to agencies and parents working with children and young adults with disabilities. These include ‘how to play’ workshops; early intervention assistance; specialist consulting services for individuals, families and groups; a Saturday and school holiday Computer Club; a Library with hundreds of toys, books, specialist resources and equipment; and mobile and postal services for regional, rural and remote areas. Play is crucial to the development of all children and there is significant evidence to demonstrate that the resources we provide encourage fine and gross motor skills, cognitive language and social and emotional development in young children with special needs.
