Tips for Stress Free Weddings

If you're planning a summer wedding, your primary concern may be to make it as stress free as possible.  You may not be one of those girls who has always wanted all the bells and whistles for a really elaborate event, so it could be a little easier to keep it scaled down.  But even  though you might be prepared for a small wedding, little things can keep popping up that you will have to stay in charge of - before your big day takes over your happiness.  Here are a few tips from a Sunshine Coast wedding reception venue that you can use so you don't turn into one of the Bride-zillas you see on TV.

ORGANIZE / PACE YOURSELF

It's easy to get overwhelmed with all the little details - location, reception, catering, officiant, photographer, flowers... the list goes on and on.  The best way to eat the wedding "elephant" is one bite at a time.  Take one day to focus on the location.  Once you have that figured out, you can go with the decoration theme.  Once you have that figured out, find a caterer that prepares food that fits your wedding reception venue.  Don't try to find everything in one day, and stay focused.

There are many wedding planner books available that will help you keep your information organised and handy.  Find one that appeals to you so that you will use it to figure out who and what goes where.

STAY ON BUDGET

Money is one of the leading causes of divorce.  Start your marriage right by learning how to stick to a budget with your future spouse while planning your wedding.  This means that you might have to make concessions on some things to get the things that are really important to you.  Compromise to find the right balance.  If you must have the expensive dress, perhaps you can have a less formal catered reception.  Budgets will vary for every couple, but stick within your limits.

Remember that the wedding is just one day out of the rest of your life, and while it is important, it takes time to pay off those bills.  Starting your marriage without debt for the wedding will definitely be a good habit to start with.

HAVE FUN

When your wedding day stops being fun, something has gone wrong.  If it has grown too big, or the budget has gone through the roof, slow down.  Take a weekend away with your partner or some of your best friends.  Think about anything but the planning.

There will also inevitably things that will go wrong on your special day.  Instead of getting bent out of shape, just laugh.   There are too many "what ifs" to list, but keep in mind that the "wrong" parts of your day will become the story telling material later on.  If your day goes without any snags, then what a boring wedding story.

You may even decide to keep it super-small with just your children and parents invited. This will stop anyone from feeling obliged to attend. As soon as you make a guest list it will keep growing - creating stress.

While this may not be everyone's ideal wedding, the complete lack of stress canmake it the perfect day.  Make a wedding how YOU want it, and don't worry about what everyone wants for you.  This is, after all, your special day.

Let the experts at your local Sunshine Coast wedding reception venue take the stress out of organising your special day.
