Sunshine Coast holidays offer the opportunity to sample wines from several very promising vineyards all in one convenient area with the beautiful Queensland coastline as an added benefit.

The main areas you will visit on your Sunshine Coast holiday are the Blackall Range, Traveston and the Kenilworth region. All are different and each area is producing its own unique flavor of wines from a variety of vineyards.

The wineries include Maleny Mountain Wines which is located one hour north of Brisbane. It boasts rich volcanic soil that allows the vineyard to plant Chambourcin grapes since 1999. The vineyard makes its wines from a blend of its own grapes and other local grapes from the region. They offer an extensive wine list with a range and variety to suit all tastes. Maleny Mountain Wines offers group tastings and bus tours and serves lunch on the weekends.

The next stop on your Sunshine Coast holiday might be the Dingo Creek Vineyard. Another one half hours drive to the north, it is situated in the Cooloola region. It grows its own Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc since 1997. The vineyard is open to bus groups any day of the week and can handle large crowds. There is a lovely covered deck that accommodates 60 people for lunch or tea and wine tastings of course. The menu includes bush tucker to add to the Australian experience. Dingo Creek has established its reputation and plans to stick around for the long haul. The quality of its wines is an indicator that they are likely to succeed.

Next on the winery list is the Robinsons Family Vineyard, one of the oldest in the region. Started in 1969 in Ballandean on the Granite Belt, the winery is home to a unique combination of climate and soil that yields award winning wines. It also overlooks a beautiful valley of the Ballandean National Park. The vineyard was one of the first
in the area to plant Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon alongside the native Shiraz vines. They have also since added Merlot, Beaujolais, Sauvignon Blanc and Gewurztraminer for a total of 30 acres of vines. The vineyard has been winning awards since 1975 when it took a gold medal in Brisbane for a Cabernet, Shiraz, Pinot Noir blend.

The owners of the vineyards have spent time in Europe and bring the rich tradition with them to Australia. These are just a few of the more than a dozen wineries you will find in the Sunshine Coast region. Come and explore the beautiful and exotic countryside and partake in a dazzling array of great local wines. Sunshine Coast holidays make for an experience you shall not soon forget.
